Why should I choose Chiswick Child Photography for a newborn photoshoot?
Catherine has been photographing newborn babies and their families for over 15 years and is therefore very experienced in safely settling, posing and photographing newborn babies (including older newborns) and their families so that sessions are relaxing for babies and parents. Catherine is often described as a baby whisperer by her clients.
The Chiswick Child Photography studio has both natural light and professional Profoto lighting systems (gentle on young eyes) as well as a generous selection of newborn props and outfits. In addition there are several New Mama Gowns new mums can wear for the family photographs as well as children's dresses and Angel Wings for sibling photographs.
Catherine is experienced in editing photographs individually with a variety of specialist software to achieve the best results. Please don't worry if your baby has blotchy or flaky skin (both very normal in newborns) as this can usually be edited out.
Chiswick Child Photography has a clear package pricing structure with no hidden costs.
There are several different packages available to suit different budgets and preferences.
When is the best time for a newborn photoshoot?
The ideal time for a newborn photoshoot is when your baby is 6-21 days old. This is because babies retain their "newborn curl"/womb position until they are around ten days old and tend to be much deeper sleepers during the first three weeks which makes posing them for a variety of beautiful sleeping baby images much easier.
If your baby is born earlier than expected then please try to come once your baby reaches their due date and/or weighs at least 2.7 kilos.
If your baby is born by C Section I recommend waiting until your baby is at least two weeks old to give new mums sufficient recovery time.
Please try to book a provisional session date before your baby is born (if possible) to avoid disappointment during busy periods. This date can be changed if your baby arrives earlier or later than expected.
What if my baby is already over 3 weeks old or I need more recovery time after the birth?
Catherine is also experienced in photographing older newborns (up to 8 weeks old) and will talk to parents about timing the session to try to achieve classic sleeping poses. Older newborns tend to take longer to settle and are usually lighter sleepers so these sessions usually include more photographs of wrapped babies lying on their backs but this obviously varies from baby to baby. The advantage of later newborn sessions is that these are more likely to include a mixture of awake and sleeping photographs.
Can I feed my baby during the session?
Catherine usually recommends that parents who live locally give their baby a main feed just before leaving home and then provide top up feeds as needed during the session as this helps newborns to settle into a good sleep during the session. Parents who live further away should aim to give their baby a main feed on arrival so that the sleep window isn't wasted on the journey here.
What is included in each newborn photography package?
If your baby tends to take longer than most to settle during a newborn photoshoot you can (if I don't have another session booked in afterwards) extend your session by up to an hour for an additional price of £50.
My studio is in Chiswick, West London (London Borough of Ealing) and there are nearby public transport options and pay by phone or app parking bays close by.
The studio is within easy reach of Hammersmith, Ealing, Shepherds Bush, Richmond, Barnes, Kensington, Notting Hill Gate and Harrow.
Mini Baby Only Newborn Photography Package: £275
This package is only available for Monday to Thursday 9.30am or 2pm sessions
Baby Only Newborn Photography Package : £350
This package is only available for Monday to Friday sessions OR Saturday 2pm sessions
Bronze Newborn Baby Photography Package : £425 (Parents & Baby Only)
Price reduced to £400 for week day sessions (excluding bank holidays)
NB This package can also be selected for parent and baby only sessions
Gold Newborn Baby Photography Package: £650 (can include sibling/s and/or grandparent/s)
Price reduced to £600 for week day sessions (excluding bank holidays)
NB This photoshoot can include siblings and/or grandparents for the first or last hour of the session
Please note that the photographer will select the best images from each session for editing.
Unedited images are not available for viewing and RAW files are not given.
Please note that clients are not allowed to take their own photographs and/or video footage during sessions.
Additional editing requests will be charged at a rate of £20 per photograph (on top of the package price).
A maximum of 5 additional edited images may be requested for packages which include at least 20 edited images.
A maximum of 3 additional edited images may be requested for packages which include fewer than 20 edited images.
Additional composite photograph editing will be charged at a rate of £25 per photograph.
Additional editing charges need to be paid in advance.
The editing charge is purely an editing charge to create more choice for clients and does not include the purchase of additional digital images within packages.
Individual additional digital images may be purchased at a rate of £25 per image.
Booking Deposit Fee: £200
Please give a minimum of 24 hours notice for cancellations/date changes in order to avoid the £100 late cancellation fee which will otherwise be deducted from your deposit. The booking fee is non refundable but can be used towards later packages if clients cancel with a minimum of 24 hours notice.
The prints for all packages must be selected from the digital images selected.

- All packages include high resolution jpg images which are sent to clients via WeTransfer for instant download An additional identical set of low resolution images suitable for email and social media can also be requested without charge
- Some packages also include Fine Art Prints (and extra prints can be purchased)

- One Hour Studio (West London) Newborn Photoshoot including use of studio props, hats, wraps
- This package is for baby photographs only (please choose a different package if you want family photographs)
- This package includes two or three set ups which are most likely to be set ups where your baby is lying on their back e.g. in felted layers or a bowl/basket/shell prop/flower prop/boat all of which work with both sleeping and awake babies.
- This package is available for Monday to Thursday sessions (please choose a larger package if you need a weekend)
- Individual Image Enhancement and private viewing gallery (6 edited images selected by the photographer)
- 5 High resolution images transferred by WeTransfer for instant download
- 1 additional image will be given to clients who give permission for some of the images to be used for the Chiswick Child Photography website and/or Chiswick Child Photography promotions.

- Individual Image Enhancement and private viewing gallery (10 edited images selected by the photographer)
- 8 High resolution images transferred by WeTransfer for instant download
- 2 additional images will be given to clients who give permission for some of the images to be used for the Chiswick Child Photography website and/or Chiswick Child Photography promotions.

- 3.5 hour Studio (West London) Newborn Photoshoot including use of studio props, hats, wraps and one or two New Mama Gowns
- Can include both parents (and siblings and/or one or two Grandparents for the first or last hour of the photoshoot)
- As this is a longer session there is more time to get a larger variety of images
- Individual Image Enhancement and private viewing gallery (35 edited images selected by the photographer)
- 30 print quality Images sent via WeTransfer for instant download
- 5 additional images plus a multi image on USB are given to clients who give permission for some of the images to be used for the Chiswick Child Photography website and/or Chiswick Child Photography promotions.
- One 12 x 8 Inch Fine Art Print (unframed)
